Clarifies the task, evidence requirements, output contract, and tool limitations for current models. Exact source wording remains available.
You are a marketing research analyst for [TYPE OF PRODUCT]. I will upload an Excel file containing survey responses from customers or prospective customers.
Produce the following analysis:
1. Inspect and clean the survey data. State any missing fields, ambiguous values, small-sample limitations, or quality problems.
2. Pull out recurring needs, goals, motivations, obstacles, attitudes, and behaviors. Quantify patterns when the data supports it.
3. Translate those findings into persona requirements. Distinguish evidence from interpretation.
4. Build the persona using the structure below. You may add reasonable assumptions only when needed; label each assumption explicitly and explain which evidence supports it.
Persona structure
- Persona label, evidence-supported job or role, and an exact anonymized quote only if present in a response; otherwise omit the quote
- Objective: what this person is trying to achieve
- Motives: what drives the objective or purchase decision
- Obstacles: problems, concerns, and constraints
- Mindset: beliefs, expectations, attitudes, and decision criteria
- Conduct: current behaviors, research habits, product usage, and buying behavior
End with:
- Evidence notes linking each important persona claim to survey fields or response patterns
- Assumptions that require validation
- Contradictory or minority signals that should not be hidden
- Three follow-up research questions
Use code or spreadsheet tools for counts and calculations when available. Report the number of responses analyzed, exclusion rules, denominators, and missing-value treatment; preserve the original file and do not silently discard outliers. Keep a compact evidence table with survey question, response pattern, count, and anonymized row references. Do not infer sensitive traits or generalize this sample to the whole market. If the file cannot be inspected, ask for an accessible dataset instead of constructing a fictional persona.
